TOUGH
DOG ADJUSTABLE SHOCKS
Imagine being able to decide how firm or how
soft you want your ride!
Tough Dog’s
Adjustable Shocks have a 9-position knob on the
lower/bottom end of the shock body near the
lower mount, allowing you to configure the ride
depending on your expectations and requirements.
Position No1 is
'Yankee-like’ SOFT, position No9 is ‘Bloody’
FIRM.
We suggest you select position 4 as a starting
point & adjust to suit!
Many manufacturers of cheaper heavy duty shock
absorbers will typically make their shocks
around 15-25% firmer than the original shocks.
With Tough Dog’s Adjustable Shocks you decide on
the ride quality and handling control you want
in just a minute or so.
Note: All the Tough Dog shocks we sell are
individually manufactured, valved and tested to
suit our Aussie conditions and each vehicle
application in the range, unlike some other
adjustables!

market. The coil spring self centers the
steering and will help reduce fatigue on a long

the ‘Extreme RTC’ XHD version is recommended!

THE TOUGH DOG ‘RALPH’ X/HEAVY DUTY SHOCK
(53mm BORE – Part Number Prefix TDR)
The Tough Dog
RALPH is the largest, heaviest duty 4WD shock
made on the Planet! Simply put, these shocks are
‘THE CORRUGATED DIRT ROAD EATERS’ – they
will devour kilometre after kilometre of bad
road conditions, day after day after day – and
handle it! They took a Prime Mover shock, valved
it for 4WD applications and then added the
finest components available to make the biggest,
strongest, toughest 4WD shock in the world –
These are ‘The Mother of all Shocks’ - NO BULL!
These Ralph shocks are bloody huge with the
biggest body (70mm), the biggest bore (53mm),
the biggest shaft (22mm), the biggest
oil-capacity and the biggest warranty of any 4WD
shock available. The piston head surface
area is more than twice that of your average
32-35mm piston shock. These shocks
can outlast up to 3 sets of normal 32-35mm bore
shocks when continually used in rugged
conditions with heavy loads and driven hard!
These shocks
are not designed to be fitted to small or medium
4WDs. We would not normally recommend fitting
them to a full-sized 4WD that is used as a local
shopping cart either. We would definitely
recommend fitting them to a full-sized 4WD that
is expected to carry heavy loads of up around
the GVM load rating of the vehicle or more. It’s
not uncommon for some Patrols and Landcruisers
to weigh around 3300kg-3800kg when setting of on
their ‘Big Trips’. These Ralph shocks are built
tough to control these heavily-laden 4WDs over
rough terrain, and they will outlast, and
out-perform, any other shock in these
conditions. They just do not fade due to the
large capacity of high-temp fluid they hold.
These Ralph
shocks also work great on the front end of
Toyota’s LC100 4.7L V8 & 4.2L Turbo Diesel
vehicles and offer great control and handling on
these vehicles. But remember, these LC100 IFS
vehicles do not have any front upper bump stops
fitted – Thanks Mr Toyota – bloody brilliant
idea – NOT! So we do not recommend lifting
the front end of these vehicles much if your
intended use is off road or you may damage front
end components on your vehicle and your front
shocks. A limited range of product
applications to suit popular full-size 4WDs is
available and warranty terms varies depending on
the use of your vehicle...
